In Christ, we too have been claimed as God’s own possession since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, would be to the praise of his glory.
And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christ – you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory. We are not in this alone. We have placed our hope and trust in Jesus, and He is with us. God, in His great mercy, has made the Holy Spirit available to us in two amazing ways…
A deposit into our hearts upon salvation and an empowering force in our lives. One is automatic, and the other comes as we surrender our will to His.
1 Peter 2:9 says: But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20: Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price. Therefore, glorify God with your body.
