Isaiah 53 is a well-known passage about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. When Jesus’ birth was announced, there had been four hundred years of silence from God to His people. That’s a very long time for there to be no prophets declaring the goodness and correction of a loving God.

But when Jesus’ birth and early ministry were announced, many rejected it. Isaiah 53:3 says He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.

Verse 4-5 goes on to describe how He carried our pain and every illness in his body on the Cross. Verse 5-6: He was wounded because of our rebellious deeds, crushed because of our sins; he endured punishment that made us well; because of his wounds, we have been healed. All of us had wandered off like sheep; each of us had strayed off on his own path, but the LORD caused the sin of all of us to attack him.

BUT GOD chose to raise Him from the dead from the beginning of time, whenever that actually was. See, God knew we would need a savior.

As we look at the empty tomb, we realize that no one else in all of history has ever died and come back to life, never to die again!

Look into the empty tomb; what do we need healing for, forgiveness for, or restoration for today? The tomb is empty, the King is alive, and we can be restored to wholeness again.

As I write this, I am moved by psychological illnesses that plague many who may be reading this today. What do you need from Jesus today? Just ask. It’s what HE DIED FOR and the reason the tomb is empty.
