Waiting for the Loading Bar

Waiting for the Loading Bar

I’m sure by 2026, we have experienced waiting for a program or website to load on a computer. We are familiar with the pesky loading bar with an indicator of how much of the program or page has loaded and how much remains.

Our lives have a loading bar seen only by our Creator. How much of our lives have already been lived, and how much remains is a mystery to us, but God knows every day that He has ordained for us. How many of mine remain? I don’t know.

There are two schools of thought on this subject. One is to live every day like it’s your last, take control of your life, and do the things you want to do now because tomorrow isn’t promised to us. The second philosophy is to be cautious and do everything you can to preserve and save up life for the future. Neither of these options is bad, and both have their merits. So how does God want us to live?

Ephesians 5:1-21 gives us a road map of how God wants us to live. In a nutshell, it tells us to avoid foolish people, not to live immorally or walk in darkness, not to get drunk or tell coarse jokes, or use such language. It tells us to love one another. I encourage you to read the text for yourself in your favorite translation.

If we focus on living our lives for Jesus and following His example, I submit that the loading bar will not become an issue of anxiety regarding how much life we have left, but how many days we have to live for Jesus.
