Peace And Unity
In the days that Jesus walked the earth fully human, the world was watching and waiting for a Messiah that would overthrow the current political system that was oppressive. The Jewish people wanted a King to overthrow Rome and establish a more correct kingdom.

But that is not what Jesus’ mission was at all. Jesus stated His mission in Luke 4:18-19, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Our country will decide who will lead us for the next four years in just a couple of days. What does the Bible say about this? 2 Chronicles 7:14 says this, Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. We all want a country that is peaceful and operates orderly and fairly for everyone.

Our role as followers of Jesus is to humble ourselves and pray for righteous rule. It’s not an us vs them situation for the believer! We will all be affected by the outcome of this election. What will we do if the candidate we voted for doesn’t win? I hope that we will continue to pray for our leaders as the Bible commands us to.

I encourage you to VOTE! It is our privilege in this country. It’s one of the things that makes our nation the most desirable place on earth to visit and live in. As followers of Jesus, we need to stand up and be counted where we can and pray for what is out of our control. For now, we have a voice and a vote. We must use them peacefully and powerfully.
