| Kaleidoscope |
| Do you remember playing with your first kaleidoscope as a kid? There was a sense of wonder and excitement as you looked through the lens and then turned the dial on the other end. The image inside would change as you turned the dial, light streaming through the multitude of colors. No two images were the same. People are like a kaleidoscope. If we choose to look at people with the same awe and wonder we do at the image inside the kaleidoscope, we will see amazing beauty when the light shines through them. No two people are the same. God has placed His stamp of uniqueness on each of us. The kaleidoscope of my life looks different than yours. We are different. We have different personalities even when we both follow Jesus and allow His light to shine through us. We can both look at the same image and see something completely different. Yet Jesus is still the King on the throne of our lives. In my opinion, this is why we have so many different religious organizations in our world. It’s why we have so many churches in our communities. Two Baptist churches can be the same in theory but completely different because of the makeup of the people who worship there or how the pastor leads. There is beauty in diversity if we choose to see it. The US is in a state of diversion right now that trickles all the way down to our local communities. Political divisions, religious divisions, and, dare I say it, family divisions. God wants us to have unity. I think God would like to hand us His kaleidoscope and allow us to see the beauty of diversity with new awe and wonder. What would that take in your world? I know what it would take in mine, it would require me to stop my judgemental behavior and choose to see the beauty. One by one, we can change the climate in our communities and families. Look through the lens, spin that wheel, and choose to see the beauty! |
