Calvary’s Enough

Calvary’s Enough
Calvary, Golgotha, the hill where Christ was crucified, is enough to erase all sins before, current, and future. Let that sink in.

Before Jesus died there were hundreds of laws the people had to follow to obtain satisfaction for their sins between the Day of Atonement. God established 10 laws and explained them in detail in Exodus and Leviticus. But the established Leaders had piled on more and more laws over the centuries.

By the time Jesus came to earth, there were so many laws that it was virtually impossible to follow them all. The leaders of the people took great pride in looking down their noses at the average Jew. They lorded the law over them at every opportunity.

But when Jesus came He brought a fresh new message of freedom and grace. His presence was so counter-culture of the day that the Jewish leaders had Him killed. Little did they know that they were playing right into God’s hands to deliver Salvation to the world.

Jesus fulfilled all of the laws that God had provided for the people. After His death and resurrection, animal and grain offerings were no longer required, stripping the Pharisees of their power over the people. The veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom, allowing anyone to approach the Throne of Grace freely.

One act of love on a hill named Calvary is enough to satisfy my sin today and tomorrow.

Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help. Hebrews 4:14-16 (NET)
