The Shortcut is not always best

A Shortcut is Not Always Best

Exodus 13:17 (NLT) When Pharoah finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea.

God does not always make our path smooth and trouble-free. Sometimes we have to go the long way to get to the best outcome.

Moses led the people exactly where God told him to. They ended up at the edge of the Red Sea, while Pharoah’s army was chasing them from behind. They were trapped. They accused Moses of leading them to their death.

Exodus 14:13 says, But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.

Sometimes we must face what’s in front of us and trust that God has a plan we may not yet see. He is a God of miracles. He can turn the sea bed into dry land, then close the sea on top of the enemy, drowning them.

In 1978, Ron Wyatt discovered, on repeated dives from 60-200 feet deep, over 2.5 km, that chariot parts are scattered across the sea bed. Artifacts found include wheels, chariot bodies as well as human and horse bones. This is all laid out in a documentary titled “The Red Sea Crossing”, A Rood Awakening! International Presentation.

After the sea engulfed the Egyptian army, the people were in awe and sang a song of praise to the LORD. The people sang and danced and played their Tamborines. What joy and awe must have filled their hearts.

But remember, the miracle happened on the long way around, not the shortcut. So when God leads you the long way, watch for His miraculous hand to manifest His greatness! Then you will dance and sing with all your heart to the Lord your God.
