Cornucopia

Thanksgiving Cornucopia

When I think back from my history classes about the pilgrims and their early struggles in the new world, I remember their first Thanksgiving. They were in a whole new world with people that didn’t look or act like they did. They were fish out of water so to speak.

Some of the pilgrims sought out the natives of their new world and learned from them how to survive in this strange world. Nothing worked as it did in their old world. They had to lay aside their “familiar” and take up a whole new way of doing things and thinking.

The Pilgrims were thankful for the Native Americans; without them they would have perished. Because of them they were able to share in the very first Thanksgiving meal together.

When we come to Jesus we are full of our old selves. We come desperate for a new life, a new way of living that we can not only survive in but actually thrive. Jesus brings a whole new world to our existence, a new way of thinking and living. Without Him we will perish. With Him we can thrive! I am so thankful for my life in Jesus.

Happy Thanksgiving!
