I’m sure you have heard Jesus whisper these words to your heart as I have. They are both comforting and terrifying at the same time. What does it mean to leave it in God’s hands?
True, He is in control and He knows what He’s doing at all times. Also true is that I want to know what’s going to happen in the future. But God is saying, “wait on me, wait for my timing. And we know that His timing is perfect.
The waiting is so hard! God knows this and is sympathetic to our anxiety. We can leave the future in His hands and relax. Why is that last part so hard? Why do we always want to have our “ducks in a row” and know the next step ahead of us? It’s a quandary.
This is where faith and trust meet and sometimes collide. But the truth is, they go hand in hand. You can’t have faith without trust, and you cannot trust without faith.
God is in control, and that’s all we need to know. We simply want to know what’s coming to prepare ourselves. But what if in the waiting, God is preparing us for what’s coming? What if He can do a better job than we can?
The waiting is the hardest part, and trusting is the choice we get to make in the waiting. Will we trust and put our faith in God’s capable hands, or will we live in anxiety and struggle against His timing?
I want to be the one who trusts and rests in God’s faithfulness. His silence is not His absence. I can trust that He is moving for my best.
