Finding Hope and Healing

A Message of Hope and Healing

For those who have been hurt or molested in their life, there is hope for healing, but it is only found in Jesus. He has already made a plan for your healing. He didn’t cause any of the harm you have experienced, and He has healing ready for you. It could be immediate and complete or happen over time, but He is the author of healing.

Part of the healing may include forgiveness, but He will never ask you to put yourself back in harm’s way. God’s work is complete and final. Philippians 1:6 (NET) says this, For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

My testimony includes physical and emotional abuse in a marriage. Because we both loved Jesus, healing and forgiveness were possible. However, it was only because of this truth in Philippians and our submission to Jesus.

I don’t recommend staying in an abusive relationship, ever. Get out and safe first, then seek counseling from a reputable therapist experienced with abusive relationships. In our case, Jesus healed and restored our marriage by using therapy. (Side note: Pastors are not trained for this type of counseling; please be cautious in only going to your church. A pastor can help guide you to a reputable counselor in your area.)

There are special organizations trained and equipped to deal with domestic abuse, sexual abuse, rape, or incest. Look for one in your area; they have resources available. Here is one available all over the US: The National Domestic Violence Hotline (800)-799-7233, TTY (800) 787-3224, or you can text BEGIN to 88788.

Be encouraged; you are seen, you are cared for, and you matter to God.
