Salvation Mountain |
When we first came to Jesus, He took our rags and turned them into riches. How? He took our unrighteousness, which we had no way of dealing with, and exchanged it for His righteousness, which cannot be earned but is a gift. We call it Salvation. But even though we are saved from sin, sin is still a factor in our lives. So what, then, are we supposed to get saved repeatedly? No! The Bible says that we are saved, and all of our past, present, and future sins are forgiven. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NET) says Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom. The very next verse in this passage says And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit. In the King James Version it’s worded this way, But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. What does it mean to go from one glory to another? I have two thoughts. First, real and lasting change happens from the inside out. We will one day see God as He is. Moses had to veil his face when he came down the mountain after receiving the Ten Commandments because God’s glory was showing so brightly—so bright that the people of Israel could not look at him. Secondly, we reflect what we worship. Psalm 115:4-8 says, Their idols are made of silver and gold – they are man-made. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see, ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell, hands, but cannot touch, feet, but cannot walk. They cannot even clear their throats. Those who make them will end up like them, as will everyone who trusts in them. God takes on our transformation one issue at a time. Yes, we are saved, but we are be transformed as we grow. I have issues that are yet to be dealt with. God takes me through them one at a time to change me from the inside out to be more like Him. When an issue has been dealt with by the Holy Spirit, I Am Changed, and I have the power to walk away from the old way of handling it into a new perspective. It’s like putting on Jesus glasses and seeing things very clearly. I call this going to Salvation Mountain. Jesus is gracious to deal with us on one issue at a time. I’m so glad He doesn’t back up a huge dump truck and deluge us all at once. Aren’t you? |
