Don’t Hijack God’s Timing |
How often have I jumped the gun on God’s timing? More than I would care to count. I see what is coming, or I want something to happen so I jump ahead of God. It’s as if I’m telling God, “I got this one, I don’t need you this time”. It reminds me of the cartoon of the Family Circus where the kids run all over the place leaving a trail like a messy plate of spaghetti noodles. When I go off the rails and run ahead of what God has planned, I distort God’s timing. Maybe even alter the plan completely. But God is not surprised by my actions. He knows what I’m going to do. The challenge is me keeping my eyes on Him and not the circumstances. AND, God can even adjust the plan I thwart to accomplish His purposes. Galatians 4:4-5 says “But when the appropriate time had come, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights.” When a woman is pregnant, the baby develops at the appropriate time, then when it’s time to be born, the body goes into motion to cause the baby to be born. This is a natural process. And so it is with what God has for us. We need to wait until the right time. God is never hurried and never late. He is always on time! Ephesians 1:9-10, “making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” The fullness of time… At the right time… In His timing, not mine. I want to keep my eyes on Jesus and wait for the fullness of His timing. I don’t want to hijack God’s plan for me. |
